Installing Microsoft Office: Step-by-Step Guide

Before you begin the installation process for Microsoft Office titles, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and more, follow these steps to ensure a smooth experience. Microsoft Office is available for download on up to five personal devices for all Microsoft 365 Crown College students, faculty, and staff.

Pre-Installation Checklist:

  1. Uninstall Previous Versions:
    • Ensure any existing versions of Microsoft Office are uninstalled on your device. Failure to do so may lead to software conflicts during the installation. See our ‘How to Uninstall a Program Article’
  2. Personal Use Only:
    • Microsoft Office is intended for personal use on personal or home computers/devices. Faculty and staff requiring installation on provided devices should coordinate with their IT staff for deployment and management.
  3. Contact IT Help Desk for Guidance:
    • If unsure about the appropriate version of Microsoft Office to install, contact the IT Help Desk for guidance and assistance.

Installation Steps:

  1. Access Microsoft 365:
    • Navigate to the Microsoft 365 suite of services provided free of charge to all Crown College students, faculty, and staff.
  2. Login to Your Account:
    • Log in using your Microsoft 365 Crown College credentials.
  3. Select Install:
    • At the top right hand corner click install and more.
    • Then click "Install Microsoft 365 apps"
    • Then click "Install Office". Office Setup exe should have downloaded.
    • Open the Office Setup download
  4. Follow On-Screen Instructions:
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.
  5. Verify Activation:
    • Once installed, open any Office application and verify the activation status.
  6. Repeat for Additional Devices:
    • Repeat the installation process for up to five personal devices.
